Methodist Education Unit awards pupils

Twenty- two pupils from selected Methodist schools in the Greater Accra Region who participated in the Greater Accra Methodist Schools competitive examinations have been honoured with various awards for excelling.

Fifty-four primary schools and 50 junior high schools (JHS) took part in the event organised by the Methodist Education Unit to unearth talents from the schools.

The award ceremony which took place at the Rev. Thomas Clegg Methodist Church at Kaneshie, in Accra, saw a lot of dignitaries attending.

The competitive examination was conducted in Mathematics, English and General Paper (Integrated Science and Citizenship Education) for the Primary level and Mathematics, English and Science for the JHS pupils.

Abraham Nunoo of Gbegbeyise Methodist Primary 2 received the overall best student award for Mathematics, Amina Nelson Osuman of Calvary Methodist Primary was adjudged the best student in English and Peter Amedmeku of Gbegbeyise Methodist Primary, the overall best in General Paper.

At the JHS level, John Amponsah-Tetteh of Mount Zion Methodist JHS, received the award for the best student in Mathematics, Sheini Fadeela of Mount Zion JHS picked the prize for best student in English, while Akpakli Tibau of Weija Methodist JHS was awarded for emerging the overall best in Science.

Mount Zion JHS, Saint Paul Methodist JHS and Pokuase Methodist JHS, received awards for outstanding performance in the competition at the JHS level, while Thomas Clegg Methodist Primary A, Mpoase Methodist Primary and Nungua Methodist 2 Primary, received awards for best performance in the Primary category.

In his address, the General Manager of Methodist Schools, Very Reverend Paa Solomon Grant-Essilfie, congratulated the students on their efforts and urged them to continue to aspire for higher laurels.
