KNUST appoints Prof. Yaw Adu-Sarkodie as Provost of the College of Health Sciences

The Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has appointed Prof. Yaw A. Adu-Sarkodie, Professor of Clinical Microbiology, as Provost of the College of Health Sciences.

A letter dated September 13 and signed by the Deputy College Registrar, K.A. Karikari announcing the new appointment, said Prof. Yaw A. Adu-Sarkodie will hold office for a term of three years, beginning from October 1, 2017 to July 31, 2020.

Until his new appointment, Prof. Yaw A. Adu-Sarkodie has been the Dean of the Medical School of KNUST. The new position gives him leadership over the Medical school, Pharmacy School, School of Public Health, Nursling School, Dental school, Veterinary School and the faculty of Allied Health Sciences.

A vacancy announcement of the post early on in July, said Provost as the Head of the College, shall be responsible for providing leadership to the College and for maintaining and promoting efficiency and good governance of the College in accordance with policies and procedures prescribed by the Act and Statutes of the University.

It also said the appointment is full-time and shall be for three years in the first instance and may be renewed for another term of three years, subject to evaluation of performance, altogether making a maximum of six years.
