The health walk, which was held on Saturday, was organised prior to the school’s 52nd Speech and Prize Giving day and 74th Anniversary which will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023.

The primary objective of the health walk, dubbed, “Together, let’s walk towards a healthier future!” was to encourage a healthy lifestyle among the alumni, emphasizing the importance of regular physical activities.

The National President of LOSA, Listowel Agbeli said the walk serves as an opportunity for old students to come together to  identify and address the challenges confronting the school.

"When you look around, the polytanks and most of the renovations at the lab and other places were done by the Old Students so when we come for something like this, they see it and do something about it.

If we are all to come together in our numbers, we can do it better than this way but even with the few that show up, I can say we are trying," he said.

The Headmistress of Labone Senior High School, Mrs. Rejoice Akua Acorlor said the school was addressing its challenges with the help of LOSA, parents and the government as well.

However, she was of the belief that stakeholders, individuals can also support the school to address its challenges.

She lauded LOSA for not neglecting the school even after leaving the school for years, saying that if all old students of the various schools come together to help, it will help develop the schools.

For his part, the LOSA National Organiser, Mr Stephen Nii Amon Kotey encouraged all year groups of the Association to do a field trip to the school so that they can identify issues and help address them.

The walk

Aside from promoting healthy lifestyle among the people, the event also provided an excellent platform for alumni to reconnect, reunite, network, and strengthen already existing relationships with fellow LOSA members.

The walk covered an approximate distance of 8.7 kilometers, beginning from the Labone Senior High School campus through the Cells Bridge Road to the La Community Bank, then to the Osu Castle Traffic Light to Danquah Circle, through Morning Star, Labone SDA School, and finally back to the Labone SHS Campus.

In addition to the walk, there was also a free health screening session by Rayan Hospital to test Blood Pressure (BP), Body Mass Index (BMI), Blood Sugar, and free Eye Testing by Van-J Eye Care for the participants.

The group also had an inter-year group fitness challenges such as armrest, musical chairs, skipping rope, football totals, Fortuner penalties, flip the bottle, spinning game etc.
