The Accra College of Education (AcCE) has recorded no Third Class or Pass among its 272 graduates at its congregation held at the college's auditorium in East Legon, Accra.
Forty-five of the graduates obtained First Class Honours, while 164 obtained Second Class Upper Division and 63 obtained Second Class Lower Division.
The graduates, comprising 150 females and 122 males, completed programmes in Early Childhood Education, Primary Education and Junior High School Education during the 2024/2025 academic year.
Hardwork
The Principal of the college, Professor Samuel Awinkene Atintono, said the results reflected the hard work, perseverance and commitment of the graduating class.
He said the college had strengthened academic supervision, monitoring, advising and student support systems to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
Prof. Atintono said the college currently had 1,487 students and that the growth in student numbers required stronger academic systems, digital resources, student support and adequate accommodation.
He said the college had also strengthened its institutional partnerships, including a collaboration with the Beijing Normal University to establish the West African Branch of the China-Africa Teacher Education Centre at the AcCE.
The principal said AcCE had also partnered the Voorhees University in South Carolina, United States, as part of efforts to promote professional development and collaboration.
The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, urged the graduates to see teaching as more than classroom instruction, saying teachers had responsibilities as educators, facilitators of learning and mentors.
He announced that a recruitment portal for 10,000 teachers nationwide would officially open the day after the presentation of the 2027 Budget and Financial Statement.
New university
Mr Iddrisu also announced plans for the establishment of a National Teacher Education University, Ghana (NTEUG), which would consolidate the country's 49 public Colleges of Education into a single multi-campus university.

The graduating students
He said the proposed university would be established through an Act of Parliament and operate under one governing council and academic framework.
