Dome Montessori School gets new classroom facility

The Rising Sun Montessori has inaugurated a school building for the Dome branch of the school.
The 23-unit classroom block is to ensure effective teaching and learning at the school.

Facilities in the building include a science laboratory, computer laboratory, sick bay, an electronic library, multipurpose auditorium and a music laboratory.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Head of the Dome campus of the Rising Sun Montessori, Mr Benedict Yartey, said the school believed in creating a sound environment with adequate facilities to promote teaching and learning.

As the first campus of the school, which was established in 2007 at New Bortianor, management seeks to make quality education available for all.

To this effect, he said, many campuses would be opened soon so that children all over the country could access quality Montessori education.

The Chief Executive of Dalex Finance, Mr Ken Thompson, who also spoke at the ceremony, called on heads of schools to concentrate on providing all the facilities that would enhance the provision of quality education for students.

He stressed the need for the management of schools to be keen on such factors as quality and adequate school infrastructure, learning materials, and a sound environment as these all contributed to the good performance of children in school.

“Success in education involves only five per cent education (teaching and learning) and 95 per cent of confidence” he said, adding that although many schools had excellent teaching and learning systems, the children lacked self-confidence which destroyed their ability to excel.

Fifty-nine pupils of the school with a population of over 400 children and who had successfully completed their Basic Education Certificate Examination with distinction also graduated .

Parents openly shared in the joy of the success of their children.

As part of the ceremony, new prefects were sworn in to assist teachers in maintaining order in the school.
