The GH¢120,180 project, financed with the assembly’s share of the common fund, replaced a dilapidated classroom block with thatched roof, where the pupils were studying.

In an address, Madam Addo restated the commitment of President John Mahama’s Government to the development of education, demonstrated in the provision of modern school blocks for the various communities across the length and breadth of the country. She advised parents in the area to ensure that their children of school age were enrolled in school for them to become responsible leaders in future.

Regular maintenance

The DCE also urged the chiefs and the people, as well as the teachers of the school to take proper care of the facility and regularly maintain it to last longer.

She donated two laptops to the school to facilitate the teaching and learning of Information and Communications Technology (ICT).

In response to an appeal made by the assembly member for Koka, Mr Theophilus Owusu Budu, for a public place of convenience for the school, the DCE assured them of the provision of the facility, very soon.

The District Director of Education, Mr Godwin Addo was happy that the 30-year old school building, which had never seen any renovation, had been replaced with a modern one, and promised to provide the school with enough teaching materials to enhance quality education.

In a related development, Madam Addo, has cut the sod for the construction of a-three classroom block with an office and a store for the Larbikrom District Assembly Junior High School to solve the problem where the students attend classes under trees.

In an address, the DCE emphasised that the government was doing all it could to eliminate the practice of having schools under trees.
