Akuse Methodist PTA hands over projects

The Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) of the Akuse Methodist Senior High Technical School (AMEST) has handed over projects undertaken by the association at a cost of GH¢ 60,000 to the school. The hand-over ceremony was done during a PTA meeting held in the school on Saturday.

The association provided the school with a cornmill, flour mixer/roller, a multi-purpose grinding machine and a facility to house the items.

The Vice Chairman of the PTA, Mr Daniel Ofosu Mintah, who presented the items and the building to the school, said the PTA was one of the major stakeholders in the administration of the school in, and would,  therefore, not relent in its efforts to assist the school.

He said the PTA would also embark on other projects, including the completion of work on the school’s visitor’s reception and an office accommodation for the board of governors of the school.

Mr Mintah advised the parents to co-operate with the school authorities by performing their obligations in terms of the payment of fees to enable the school to run the term successfully.

Mr Seth Appiah Nyantakyi, aka Nana Kakapiaku I, the headmaster of the school, who received the items, thanked the PTA for their commitment to the school.

He said fencing of the school was almost complete, while two staff bungalows were at the lintel level. These projects, he said, when completed, would improve security in the school, and also accommodate more tutors on compus.

He appealed to the PTA for a water pumping machine and an additional school bus to alleviate the transportation problem facing the school.

The headmaster also seized the opportunity to brief parents on issues of discipline in the school and said six male students were facing the disciplinary committee.

He also mentioned the effect of the use of mobile phones by the students in the school and advised parents to desist from buying phones for them whilst they were in school.
