Information made available to the Daily Graphic indicated that the car was damaged beyond repairs and it had to be cut before the badly mutiliated body could be removed.

Mr Opare, 50, a mathematics tutor of the school and also a former House Master of Thomas Jonah House, died in the accident while returning from Accra to Cape Coast.

He rose through the ranks to become an Assistant Headmaster, Academic and later made an Assistant Headmaster, Domestic.

A horticulturist by profession and Core Mathematics Teacher, he will be remembered by students for his thin piercing voice which had amazing command and his perfectionist nature.

A staff member who spoke to the Daily Graphic yesterday said the staff received the sad news with great shock and that they were yet to overcome their grief.

When contacted on phone, the headmaster, Mr H.K.K. Graham, described Mr Opare’s death as a great shock to the school and that they were doing everything possible to get the body at the Central Regional  Hospital mortuary in Cape Coast.

He said the atmosphere in the school reflected a sad and sombre mood as staff, as well as  the students who are writing the West African Senior Certificate Examination, were yet to come to terms with the mishap.

Mr Opare left behind a wife, Mrs Joyce Opare, a chemistry tutor at the Wesley Girls Senior High School (Wey Gey Hey) and two children- a first year student of Wey Gey Hey and the other a boy at the Flowers Gay School in Cape Coast.
