Accra Poly Admits 3,781 Students

Dr Achio assured students that were able to sneak through the selection process with fake result slips that the efforts to weed out unqualified applicants was on-going and would continue even after the matriculation.

He said the fresh students had been admitted at the time remarkable progress had been made in the polytechnic to bring quality teaching and learning to its students.

He said the polytechnic appreciated the assistance that continuously came from the government for both staff and infrastructural development.

“I wish to state that it is my goal to raise Accra Polytechnic into a centre of excellence. Management recognises this goal and is committed to introduce new academic programmes that would ensure gender balance in enrolments and at the same time remove the stereotyping that makes some of our programmes unattractive to some members of the public,” he said.

Dr Achio said the polytechnic would soon be admitting the third cohort of students to the Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) programme in Fashion Design and Textiles and the second batch of the B-Tech Science Laboratory Technology programme.

Management, he said, was confident that other B-Tech programmes would be mounted in some departments of the polytechnic in the 2013-2014 academic year.

The Chairman of the Polytechnic Council, Prof. Joshua Alabi said polytechnic education offered students the best practical training that moulded them into resourceful entrepreneurs.

The Accra Polytechnic, he said, was one of the country’s most excellent centres of learning with respect to technical, applied sciences and arts, engineering and vocational skills training at the tertiary level.

“Accra Polytechnic is poised to providing service, academic excellence and the necessary opportunities for its students to excel,” he said.
