2nd Teachers’ Licensure Exam fixed for March 25, 26
The National Teaching Council (NTC) has fixed March 25 and 26, 2019 for the second edition of the Ghana Teachers Licensure Examination to be written throughout the country.
With the exception of the Upper West and Eastern regions where the candidates will be required to write the examination at the Nastra Jahan Ahmadiyya College of Education and the SDA College of Education, respectively, candidates in all the other regions will write the examination at the various regional centres of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

The Executive Secretary of the NTC, Dr (Mrs) Evelyn Owusu Oduro, disclosed this in an interview with the Daily Graphic in Accra on Friday.
Qualification
She said the examination was open to all teachers who hold the Diploma in Basic Education (DBE), Bachelor of Education (BEd) or a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PDGE) and were desirous of seeking employment with the Ghana Education Service but could not register for the maiden licensure examination in September 2018.
Dr (Mrs) Oduro said all teachers who wrote the examination in 2018 but failed in one, two or all three papers were expected to register to re-sit the paper/papers in which they failed.
She said those who would be applying for the first time, as well as those who would be re-sitting all the three papers they wrote last year, would be required to pay GH¢220 to register for the examination, while those candidates re-sitting for one or two papers would be required to pay GH¢100.00 for each re-sit paper.
Guidelines for registration
“All candidates must pay to any GCB Bank Branch nationwide, take the PIN and serial number from the GCB Bank and log onto www.exams.ntc.gov.gh and click on Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) link.
“They will be required to enter their e-voucher Serial No. and PIN and fill in all the fields and remember to upload their passport-size photograph. We expect them to review the information provided, submit and print summary of the inputs made,” she gave the guidelines of registration.
Dr Oduro reminded the potential candidates that the completed applications should be received online not later than March 17, 2019, and warned that unlike last year, there would be no extension in time for registration after the March 17, 2019 deadline.
The licensure examination
She explained that the purpose of the licensure examination was to enable qualified teachers to acquire a professional licence and to also attract excellent young graduates from the universities and colleges of education who had the required professional knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to deliver effectively in schools.
Dr (Mrs) Oduro further explained that the NTC was mandated by the Education Act 2008 (Act 778), Section 9 to improve professional standing and status of teachers and to license and register teachers in Ghana.
