It was a sense of unity, comradeship and fun as sons and daughters from the Greater Nandom Area in the Upper West Region converged at the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in New Jersey in North America to strategise for development back home in Ghana.
Speaker after speaker touched on the need to unite and mobilize funds for the development back home.
The speeches also focused on promoting and advancing the Dagara cultural, literary, and artistic heritage, especially for the benefit of their children born there.
It was an opportunity to try their skills in the Dagara dance while being treated to Ghanaian and particularly Dagara music.
The event, an annual Nagara celebration of culture, unionism and oness was jointly organised by two groups with their roots from Nandom.
Rationale
The groups, known as the America Nandom Dagara Welfare Association (ANANDA) of North America INC. and the Nandom Advocacy Group (NAG) have one common objective of uniting all Dagara residing in the US and, also mobilising resources to develop Nandom.
ANANDA and NAG also seek to rally support for the community back home with developmental projects.
The Chairman of the ANANDA Domeguah Christian Biepuo called for unity among members and also rallied them to raise funds for identified developmental needs in Nandom.
He appealed to indigenes from the the Nandom area residing in any part of the North America to join any of the two associations and was hopeful that the annual event was a platform to attract such individuals to join.

For his part, the Chairman of NAG Dr Jude Nuru explained that the two groups were active in the areas of health and education, adding that “we presented a consignment of medical supplies and equipment to the Nandom Hospital valued at $68,000."
Additionally, he said the two groups also donated equipment for the smooth running of the Physiotherapy Department of the Nandom Hospital valued at GHc70,000, and also supported some Clinics and CHIP compounds in the catchment area.
