'Being in prison is like you are dead' - Female prisoner who has served the longest term

The Mirror joined a team from the Fair Justice Initiative (FJI), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) offering inmates of the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons support, to pay a working visit to the prisons on Friday, February 11, 2022.

FJI supports the feeding of the inmates, provides their health needs, organises vocational skills training and gives them legal services.

The NGO is run by a lawyer, Mrs Sarah Mary Asante. 

The Mirror's Editor, Doreen Hammond, writes some accounts rendered by inmates in the prisons and that of two prison officers.
