GEPA working on how to exhibit more Ghanaian artists in France

A deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Sam Dentu has held discussions with an art gallery in Paris on modalities for exhibiting more works of Ghanaian artists at the gallery in France.

Mr Dentu held the discussions with a co-Director of African plus modern and contemporary art of the Mariane Ibrahim gallery, Olivia Anani at the gallery here on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

The gallery was exhibiting the works of Amoako Boafo, a Ghanaian contemporary artist known internationally for his portraits of figures typically done on solid colour backgrounds.

His works are widely collected by private and public collectors and institutions, most recently by the Leopold Museum (Vienna, Austria), Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Los Angeles, CA), and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New-York, NY).

His work has been exhibited in Europe and in the United-States in institutions such as the Volkskunde Museum (Vienna, Austria), Kunsthalle Vienna (Vienna, Austria), Mumok (Vienna Austria) and The Bass Museum (Miami, FL).

Ms Anani observed with excitement that a number of Ghanaians were making waves on the international scene with their art work.

She had on Monday attended the one-week Sound Out art exhibition being organised by GEPA at the UNESCO office here.

Ten Ghanaian artists are exhibiting their works .

Two of them, Larry Otoo and Kwesi Agyare were part of the GEPA’s visit to the Mariane Ibrahim gallery.

The other artists are Dr Afua Asabea Asare who is the CEO of GEPA, Kwaku Genfi, Bright Danso, Mohammed Awudu, Armakine Armateifio, Martin Dartey, Nana Yaa Omane Peprah, Rojo Mettle and Daniel Buju Botchwey.
