You choose the school you want to attend. You choose the clothes you wear. The food you eat is something you choose daily. You choose whom you marry, and you marry whom you choose.
There is one thing, however, that you never get to choose. It is bestowed upon you. It is your identity.
You did not choose to be a Ghanaian. Ghana chose you. You were chosen for this time. You did not choose where you were born.
Life chose it for you. It chose your name. Where you belong was not your choice. It was life’s choice for you.
Life is like a coach. It selects players based on the task ahead. Life makes its selection according to the strength of its opponents.
It places us in different places and at different times, depending on the assignment we have to complete.
You were chosen to be a Ghanaian for this time. Nobody can make Ghana great as much as you can. You are the best player for this match.
Every life’s specific assignment is for a specific period
Every life has an assignment. No life is a mistake, even if it was brought forth unplanned. In this life, no one is useless. We are not here to waste time.
We are not just here to occupy space. We were not born to observe others do great things. We are here to do great things, too.
For such a time as this, we have all been tasked with an assignment that contributes to Ghana’s progress. Our assignments complement each other to make our nation a better place.
Our assignments are like a product. They have a time span. It is bound by time. Our life is an assignment. That is why its span is called a lifetime.
Every assignment we are tasked with has a specific deadline. That assignment loses its essence when it is delayed. Your assignment is needed for such a time as this.
Every passing day is an opportunity to pursue your assignment to make Ghana a better place. This assignment cannot be delayed any further.
It is not a coincidence that you were born where you were born. Everybody is born in a particular season for a particular reason.
Buried inside of us are the resources we need to solve the problems outside of us. We are equipped with talents and passions that serve as tools for solving the challenges we face.
Ghanaians have the capacity to solve Ghana’s problems. We are endowed with the skills to make Ghana great. For such a time as this, life has selected us to be here to be the solution we have always been looking for.
Nobody is coming to save us. We are our own saviours. We need to start looking within, not without. Instead of complaining about our problems, we must start being the solution.
Use the resources of your time to lead and impact
There are a thousand and one reasons why some changes cannot happen in your time. But there is always that one reason why it can actually happen ― you were born for this.
You are here in Ghana at this particular time for this. This is your moment. It is your time.
You can spark the change. Abuse in our corporate spaces can end with you. You can lead a wave of movement that will end corruption.
We are living in a season of abundance of knowledge. There is no excuse to wallow in ignorance. Some years ago, AI was not a buzzword.
The internet is accessible even in the remotest villages today. Information is available to lead.
For such a time as this, we are not only surrounded by problems but also by solutions. This is the opportune time to seize the opportunities of time to solve the problems of our time.
Those who are always complaining are looking at only one side of the coin of life. It is time to look at the other side.
That is where the solution is. There is always a solution we have not found yet because we are too busy focusing on our problems.
Everybody is born a leader
Leadership is not positional. Whoever you are and wherever life places you, you can lead. You do not need an election to be a leader. Leadership, like our identity, is bestowed on us.
Leadership is about taking initiative. It is not about waiting for political parties to solve our problems.
For such a time as this, we must turn our problems into products. Leadership is about seeing the solution in every problem. After all, every product out there on the market is made to solve a problem.
Every time you buy a product, know that it is a product of somebody’s time. What you invest your time in is what becomes your investment.
If you invest all your energy into problems, they will wear you out. Every minute you spend thinking about the problems we have should be spent thinking about their solutions.
We have been born into a generation that has more solutions than problems. It takes the eye of a leader to see these solutions.
Leadership is not in titles. It is in the weight of problems we solve. The mandate of leadership is to make this world a better place. The hallmark of every great leader is that they pay attention to the solutions to the problems around them.
We have been born for such a time as this. We are leaders, and we are made for impact.
