Going with Polo

There is nothing like wearing a good-looking Polo shirt over a pair of jeans trousers, skirt, Chino trousers or skirt.

Once you decide to go a bit casual for a meeting or retreat outside, one thing that comes to mind is packing a few Polo shirts to make you look smart and funky.

Because they are outfits that keep trending all year round, designers are always up to the game by creating more exciting colours, texture and styles for both men and women.

Despite the global pandemic, there are still 2020 editions of Polo shirts stocked up at most clothing shops. There are people who confuse ordinary T-shirts with Polo shirts.

The key difference between Polo and T-shirt is their design; Polo shirts typically have a collar and placket with two or three buttons beneath the collar, whereas most T-shirts don't have collars.

If you are quite observant, you will realise that a Polo shirt is usually made from a slightly heavier cotton jersey fabric than a T-shirt.

Most of the T-shirts are very light and some are even see-through.

A Polo shirt might look simple to you but it comes with its own dos and don’ts. The first rule to wearing a Polo shirt is to make sure that you are wearing your own size.

That means it should not be too loose or too tight. It is supposed to be comfortable without sacrificing the overall look.

Never wear an undershirt when wearing a Polo shirt because they do not mix well together.

It is not right to wear a Polo shirt with blazers. This is because your Polo shirt has a collar, and blazers are also worn with a collar.

The worst part is if the Polo shirt’s collar is lying flat right under the blazer’s collar. It does not look neat and fashionable.

There is no rule as to whether to tuck a Polo shirt or not, because people wear them differently for various reasons. Also, because Polo shirts are worn in sports, it would be wrong to insist that Polo shirts should always be tucked.

However, if you are wearing a pair of shorts, it is strongly advised not to tuck them in.
If you wear slacks, do tuck them in to look more attractive.
