Ghanaian fashion industry is underrated – Claudia Lumor

The founder and CEO of Glitz Africa, Claudia Lumor has stated that the country could capitalise on its fashion talents to grab a stake of the global fashion industry.

Ms Lumor, an alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), an entrepreneur and fashion fanatic, said the fashion industry is the “second biggest industry globally” but Ghana’s fashion industry was not appreciated because the figureheads of the nation fail to appreciate it as an industry to invest in.

She addressed a question on the Y107.9 FM YLeaderboard Series hosted by Rev Erskine on the efforts fashion brands in Ghana have made to change the ill narrative associated with them.

“Fashion houses are doing enough for young people in Africa” she stated, adding that African youth do not lack creativity but rather lack the finances to bring their creativity to fruition.

“The fashion industry has been an existing industry but still remains underdeveloped because there’s no structure and investment,” Ms Lumor said.
