Vote for a new leadership — PPP flagbearer

Ms Brigitte Dzogbenuku is the presidential candidate for the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) in the presidential election on December 7, this year.

When Ms Dzogbenuku, who was the running mate of the PPP’s presidential candidate, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, in the 2016 election, was introduced as the one to lead the PPP,  she said that it was time Ghanaians  considered another political party which was the PPP.

She said both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) had failed Ghanaians and the need for a change was in the right direction.

“We in the PPP say that after 28 years of doing the same thing, that is  voting for the NDC or the NPP, and seeing slow progress, sometimes retrogression or near-stagnation in our development,   like the Israelites in the wilderness going around in circles, we need a new kind of leadership — a leadership with values as its core that will lead us to the promised land”, she added.

During her introduction as the flagbearer of party, she said the PPP was the party to move the country forward, adding, “I don’t take it for granted; I recognise the enormity of the task ahead of us, and with God’s help, I am ready to take the bull by the horns and forge boldly ahead”.

Ms Dzogbenuku said her vision was to build an inclusive government that would tap into the expertise of everyone, “regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, creed or gender, all working together for the love of the nation”.

“We understand that you wish for a new kind of leadership that answers your questions and addresses your needs; a leadership that helps you to attain your vision. The PPP will give you that kind of leadership”, she added.

Her nickname “Bridge it”, is coined from her first name Bridgitte, to mean that she was the bridge between the youth and the older generation, for which reason she was strategically positioned to resolve the challenges confronting the country.

Ms Dzogbenuku is the Founder/Executive Director of Mentoring Women Ghana (MWG), an organisation borne from her belief that women in leadership make economic and developmental sense.

The MWG runs programmes that inspire and empower young women and girls into leadership and into making a difference in their communities.

The flagbearer is also a member of the Vital Voices Global Partnership; an international organisation that connects women leaders around the world in over 165 countries.

Ms Dzogbenuku, who attended Wesley Girls’ Senior High School in the Central Region and the University of Ghana, Legon is fluent in many languages, including English, Swahili, French, Ewe, Fanti, and Ga.

She served on the University of Ghana’s School of Languages Management Committee for two years.

The flagbearer has been a sportswoman all her life. She was a track and field athlete and basket ballplayer in her high school and university years and currently loves to play tennis.

Ms Dzogbenuku is driven by a strong will for the Ghanaian woman to succeed, no matter the odds and has a dream of seeing women in key leadership roles in organisations in Ghana.

She is a mother of one and her running mate is Mr Kofi Asamoah-Siaw, a former strategist of the defunct GN Bank.
