The Roman Ridge School in Accra has marked the annual Remembrance Day celebrations.
To mark the day, students gathered to observe a minute’s silence and laid wreaths for fallen soldiers, recited the Ode of Remembrance and had a number of performances.
In an interview with the Junior Graphic, the Principal of the school, Mrs Valerie Mainoo, said the event marked the day World War One ended at 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.
On Remembrance Day, she said, people wore artificial poppies on their clothes to symbolise the memory of those who died.
Mrs Mainoo, therefore, urged all children and adults to be tolerant and strive to live in peace and unity with one another.
“Everybody has the capacity to act out of kindness to others and this will promote peaceful co-existence in our communities,” she noted.
