Study clinic for WASSCE, BECE candidates
A one-day study clinic on the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and Basic Examination Certificate Examination (BECE) has been organised for candidates of both examinations in Accra to prepare them adequately.

The clinic was also to equip the students to identify techniques in answering questions during examinations, as well as meet examiners and learn from them.
Speaking to the Junior Graphic, the Very Rev. Dr Eric Oduro-Wiafe, one of the organisers of the programme, said it was common knowledge that many students failed their examinations because they did not follow basic rules or could not answer simple questions adequately.
Dr Oduro-Wiafe said they hoped to make the students aware of how they needed to answer questions so that they would pass their examinations well.
He said the next pre-season clinic would be held in Kumasi on
April 8 and 9, and added that “another one will be organised for students in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region on April 24 and 25.”
He, however, hinted that next year the exercise would be held in all the 10 regions of the country to benefit all the examination candidates.
The students were taken through what examiners expected of them in English, Science, Mathematics,
Social Studies, while a clinical psychologist counselled them to try and forget all their problems when they entered the examination hall.
Students interviewed at the programme said they had benefited a lot from the exercise and were confident that they would pass their examinations very well since they had been taught how to answer questions by identifying the key words in the questions as well as what the examiners often looked for in their answers.
About 1500 students from 35 schools attended the programme.
The programme, which was on the theme: “Addressing the low-learning achievement of pupil/students in contemporary Ghana”, was sponsored by Wir Communications, Inte, the Junior Graphic and the Ghana Education Service (GES).
