The F.I.C. St Louis Educational Complex in Wa has hosted a talent show to encourage children and young students to develop their creative skills.
The show involved four schools that participated in traditional dancing, poetry recital, choreography and a quiz competition in the Universal Concepts of Mental Arithmetic Systems (UCMAS).
The competing schools were St Louis, Our Home International School, St Cecilia Primary and Cardinal Dery Memorial School, all based in Wa.
At the end of the contest, St Louis was declared winner in the Bewaa traditional dance competition, dance choreography and the UCMAS categories, while St Cecilia Primary School won the poetry recital competition.
An art exhibition, rap music show and a cadet parade were side shows that highlighted the diverse talents and creative gifts of the children as they entertained their audience to wild cheers.
A young poet, Joseph Pobee, equally excited the crowd with his rendition of inspiring poetry.
In the traditional Bewaa dance, for instance, judges looked out for creativity, costume, eloquence, confidence and harmony among dancers. And in the rather keen competition, St Louis managed to push St Cecilia to second place, with Cardinal Dery coming third.
In the poetry recital, St Cecilia Primary won, followed by St Louis in second position, while Cardinal Dery came third.
In the dance choreography contest, Cardinal Dery Memorial School came second after St Louis, while St Cecilia placed third.
Alexandria Balangta, who represented the Upper West Region in the UCMAS competition recently, topped the special Mathematics Quiz Competition.
The Headmaster of St Louis, Rev. Bro. Godwin Kuu-Ireme, said the annual talent show presented an opportunity for the children to develop their creative skills and make use of special gifts outside academic work.
