The Solomon Bennet Memorial School, a private basic school in Sunyani, has held its third Professional Day to mentor the pupils to learn more about what they intend to do in future.
During the programme, the school invited some professionals to speak to the pupils on what they need to do in order to pursue the careers choices in future.
Professionals such as lawyers, medical doctors, journalists, police and military officers, lecturers, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and pharmacists were invited to mentor the pupils.
What made the programme very interesting was the dress code for the day, as the pupils dressed according to the career they intended to pursue in future.
Briefing the Junior Graphic, the host of the programme, Mr Emmanuel Tetteh Atteh, said the students had looked forward to the programme, since it would enable them to receive pep talks from the professionals and ask questions to help them decide on what to do.
“Our students are now focused and we hope to organise the programme every year to renew their interest in the professions they intend to pursue.”
The Proprietress of the school, Ms Grace Bennet, thanked the professionals for using their experience to mentor the pupils.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Christopher Tawiah, who was the guest speaker, explained the operations of the police to the pupils.
He called on the public to assist the police by providing information on criminal activities to help arrest criminals in the society to enable people to go about their duties in peace.
Some of the pupils and students who spoke to the Junior Graphic thanked the school for instituting a programme which would help the pupils to chart their career paths.
