Show interest in what children do on social media platforms

The Director General of the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in Information Communication Technology (ICT), Madam Dorothy Gordon, has tasked parents to show interest in what their children do on social media platforms.

Madam Gordon said parents could only do that effectively by acquiring basic knowledge in ICT and the Internet.

According to her, “children will definitely use the Internet with or without parents’ permission and, therefore, they must allow and guide their children in the use of ICT and the Internet”.

Madam Gordon gave the advice at the fourth graduation, Speech and Prize-giving Day of the Delsi Kids World Montessori School in Accra.

Twenty-one pupils graduated from the kindergarten class to the primary level while pupils in both the pre-school and the primary section who excelled in various subjects received prizes.

Madam Gordon appealed to parents to allow and guide their children to take advantage of the various play and learn materials on the Internet to help them improve on the current information technology environment.

She, however, advised parents to make and spend adequate time with their children in order to teach them the good morals in life.

The Proprietress of the school, Mrs Laurentia Daformekpor, applauded parents and staff of the school for working tirelessly towards the attainment of high academic standard of the school.

According to Mrs Daformekpor, parents play a critical role in the success of their children’s academic life and, therefore, they must create a healthy learning environment for them at home.
