News: Tema Parents' Association School wins NCCE competition
Tema Parents' Association School emerged winners of a quiz organised by the Tema metropolitan office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).
Community 11 Complex school and Witsands International school came second and third respectively.

For their prizes, the winning schools received plaques, copies of the 1992 Constitution and medals while all contestants received a certificate of participation and branded T-shirts, as well as Bibles from the Tema Council of Churches.
The quiz, known as the Smart Governor's Challenge, tested the contestants’ knowledge of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the Local Government Act and the Act of Parliament.
It was sponsored by Tema Central Member of Parliament (MP), Yves Hanson-Nortey, and five basic schools in the Tema Central Constituency.
The winning school was represented by Brem Angel Akoto, Ayisi Kwame Adu and Samuel Arthur.
The Tema Metropolitan Education Director, Bernice Ofori, commended the NCCE for promoting and encouraging the study of the 1992 Constitution in schools.
She said it was important that every Ghanaian became abreast of the provisions of the constitution instead of leaving its study to only the judiciary and the legislature.
Ms Ofori outlined the benefits the study of the constitution offered, which included enabling the youth to understand their rights and responsibilities as a citizen of Ghana, how the law works and the maintenance of peace.
The Tema Metropolitan Director of the NCCE, Gifty Badu, said through such competitions and the formation of civic education clubs in basic, senior high schools (SHSs) and tertiary institutions, the NCCE sought to encourage and promote the study of the constitution among the youth for them to get an in-depth understanding and knowledge on democracy and nation building.
