Letters: Don’t increase utility bills

Letters: Don’t increase utility bills

Dear Editor, Water and electricity are very important because everyone depends on them.

They are used for drinking, cleaning, bathing and cooking. People use electricity in their homes. A lot of companies also need water and electricity in the production of their goods and services.

When individuals and companies are not able to pay their electricity and water bills, it will be very difficult for them to live their normal lives and also to stay in business. Companies will be forced to lay people off if the cost of electricity is high and they are not able produce to their full capacity.

It is for these reasons that I plead with the government to reduce utility bills to moderate rates such that everyone can afford so that we can continue to enjoy clean water and electricity.

It should be increased steadily so that consumers can afford to pay. Our parents are already suffering because of the economic crises the country is currently facing and the increase will have a ripple effect on us as children.
