Letters: Children should embrace new technology

Dear Editor, Advancement of technology has made life comfortable and easy. I am, therefore, encouraging children to embrace it.

Sectors of the economy that use new technological equipment have seen great improvements. For instance, some countries have acquired speed trains to help their transportation sector. Countries that have introduced these speed trains have been able to address the transportation needs of their citizens. They are able to reach their destinations early to transact businesses.

With the advancement in technology, people are able to communicate with others far and near through the use of mobile phones and the Internet. You can sit in the comfort of your home and send an email and the person receives it instantly.

Through the use of technology, children were able to study at home at a time when schools closed down for months due to the pandemic. Some had zoom classes and it was just like being in their classrooms.

Children can do their own research about the topics they are about to study in school. I use the Internet for research a lot and it has been of great help to me and I encourage other children to do so.

The health sector has also seen advancement in technology. For instance, the X-ray and MRI machines have made it easier for diseases and various ailments to be diagnosed early.

Agriculture is one sector that has also benefitted immensely from technology. With improved technology, large tracts of land can be cultivated to get better yields which can be exported for the country to earn foreign exchange.

In view of the immense benefits of the advancement of technology, I encourage all children to embrace it to make life easier.
