Kids exposed to Covid-19 through hawking

A number of children in Kumasi and  Obuasi in the Ashanti Region who should have stayed at home to protect themselves against Covid-19 are on the streets hawking.

Some of them hawk, particularly food stuffs in the communities thereby exposing themselves to the virus.

While some of the children hawk willingly to support their families, others were doing that against their will, fearing they could be infected with the virus if they did so.

Schools have been closed since March 15 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

A visit to various communities in the area by the Junior Graphic revealed that these schoolchildren were between the ages of six and 12.
