Mr Afrifa-Mensah made the appeal during the official opening and maiden graduation ceremony of the Blue Ribbon Academy at Medie in the Ga West Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region.

He stated that private school teachers also assisted in the educational development of the country and should, therefore, benefit from such training programmes to help them improve on their teaching skills.

The theme for the occasion was, “Quality education, the role of stakeholders.”

In all, 25 pupils, comprising 14 boys and 11 girls, graduated from the kindergarten department.

Two prefects, Elisha Amoah and Magdalene Adomako were inducted during the ceremony as the boys and girls prefect respectively.

Mr Afrifa-Mensah also expressed concern about the sanitation situation in the community, pointing out that it could cause an outbreak of communicable diseases.
He called on the Environmental Health and Sanitation Division of the assembly to help clear the garbage.

The Deputy Director of Education of the Ga West Municipal Assembly, Rev. George Abbey, advised parents to communicate with their children in their local languages, explaining that parents who did not speak the local language at home often made it difficult for their children to speak the local language fluently.

He also charged parents to visit their children’s schools to check on their performance and ensure that they took their studies seriously.
All graduates were awarded certificates.

There were various performances by the pupils to entertain parents and guests.
