Great performances at Wa Inter-circuit games

The Sawaba Circuit emerged the overall champions during the Wa Municipal Annual Inter-circuit Basic School Games and Athletics Sports Competition at the Wa Senior High School in the Upper West Region.

The schools that participated in the week-long boys and girls soccer, volleyball and athletics competitions were from the Bamahu, Busa, Charia , Dobile, Jonga and the Kabanye circuits. The rest were the Kambali, Konta, Kperisi, Mangu, Sawaba and Tindamba circuits.

 At the end of the event, the Sawaba Circuit amassed 112 points and were followed by Kambali in the second position with 100 points. The Kperisi Circuit placed third with 74 points while the Dobile and Konta circuits took the fourth position with 66 points each.

The Tendamba Circuit came fifth with 54 points, Busa was sixth with 53 points. Bamah and Jonga shared the seventh position with 28 points each while Kabanye came eighth with 14 points.

In the girls 1,500 metres race, Miriam Osman of Sawaba won the race in 5:18:05 seconds followed by  Alija Abu of Kperisi with 5:19:25 seconds and  Charity Tenku of Bamahu with 5:27:96 seconds.

In the boys 1,500 metres race, Mahama Iddrisu of Kambali won in 4:32:49 seconds and was followed by Margrus Zinbunaa of Kperisi with 4:37:34 seconds while Alhassan Majeed of Busa came third in 4:39:15 seconds.

In the final of the  football match, Sawaba played a determined game to beat the defending champions, Kambali, by two goals to nil. Both goals were scored in the second half by Alhassan
