Five to name West Hills mall mascot

Pupils from five first-cycle schools have been shortlisted as the forerunners in the competitive search for a name for the West Hills Mall mascot while 15 other pupils won consolation prizes.

All the pupils are from schools within the catchment area of the mall and other parts of Accra West .

The pupils are Kingsley Kweku Kyere Jnr (St. Benedict Soubirous), Fiifi Aidoo (Light House Christian Mission), Jason Bediako (McCarthy Hill School), Abrahm Banson (Dansoman Community Basic School) and Nelly Mensah  (Bortianor Methodist Basic School).

The 15 other winners are from  Westfield School, Bortianor Methodist Basic School, McCarthy Hill School, St Benedict Soubirous School and the Kokrobite Municipal Assembly Basic School.

The over 2,000 pupils from 20 first-cycle schools were selected from communities within and around West Hills mall’s catchment area and from other parts of Accra West. They were initially chosen last February to participate in the exciting child-focused community outreach initiative.

West Hills mall gave out colouring books to all the participants in the competition to colour the mascot – a convivial caterpillar character, clad in a deep blue and yellow costume with a befitting name to be  adopted by the mall for good.

A statement from the West Hills mall’s management said an official awards ceremony for the mascot-naming project has been slated for today, June 10, at the forecourt of the mall.

Prizes include Samsung tablets for the winners, exercise books for their schools and a range of shopping vouchers.
