Ashcell Limited, the Ashanti Regional MTN authorised distributor has partnered the Rotary Club of Labone, Accra, to give a facelift to a library facility at the New Asafo M/A Basic /JHS at Asokwa in Kumasi.
The re-roofing of the entire building, painting, changing of louvre blades and wire mesh, stocking the library with text books cost GH¢25,000.
The Corporate Service Executive of Ashcell Limited, Mr Jerry Otchi, said the initiative formed part of the organisation's corporate social responsibility to give back to the society.
He said the gesture was to inculcate the habit of reading among the children because "reading opens a new world of opportunities".
The Vice President, Rotary Club of Labone, Accra, Mr Charles Arko, who provided the library with the books reaffirmed the club's willingness to provide deprived schools with logistics to enhance the quality of education.
He promised the pupils of a weekly subscription of the Junior Graphic newspaper for the school library.
The group also presented educational kits, including MTN-branded exercise books and pencils to outstanding pupils during a reading competition.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Foster Opoku, commended the organisations for honouring their promise to support the school.
