Effort Montessori School wins quiz contest

Effort Montessori School has won the maiden edition of the ‘Brainstormers Quiz Challenge 2015’ held in Accra.

The quiz had questions from five subject areas which were Mathematics, English, Science, Information Communication Technology (ICT), General Knowledge and riddles.

After a keen contest, Effort Montessori School took the first position with 100 points while the Bennet Caulley School followed closely with 98 points.

The third, fourth and fifth positions went to the Kaneshie West ‘2’ JHS, Kaneshie West ‘1’ JHS and the Grace Preparatory schools respectively.

For their prizes, the winning school took home a trophy, an undisclosed amount of money, a parcel, t-shirts and certificates.

The schools which placed second and third were each rewarded with undisclosed amounts of money, parcels, t-shirts and certificates while the fourth and fifth schools both received certificates of participation.

In an interview with the Junior Graphic, the Chief Executive Officer of Cresols Multimedia, the organisers, Mr Tony Appiah, said the aim of the programme was to encourage healthy competition among students and also help in raising the standard of education in the country.

According to him, “the ‘Brainstormers Quiz Challenge’ is going to be an annual contest targeted at junior high schools nationwide to give them a platform to build their competitive spirit and also have fun.”

The elated winners of the competition expressed their gratitude to the organisers of the programme for giving them an opportunity to acquire more knowledge and be creative.

They also thanked their teachers for helping them reach the heights they had achieved, and added that, “other students should take advantage of such opportunities to learn new things and win prizes for themselves.”
