Dr Lawrence Tetteh - an Ambassador for Christ

Treat people as if they are what they ought to be and you can help them become what they are capable of becoming.

It is often said that the way parents treat their children greatly influence what the children become in future.

That is why it is advisable for parents to say positive things about their children in order for the kids to aspire to greater heights.

If there is anything this renowned pastor is grateful to his father for, it’s the fact that his dad saw the potential in him and encouraged both he and his siblings to attain academic excellence.

The inspiration Dr Lawrence Tetteh, the President/Founder of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach, London, received from his dad nurtured him to occupy various responsible positions while growing up.

He became a student leader in different schools in foreign lands, was the voice of the voiceless, author and, above all, President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach where he wins souls for Christ all over the world.

He is also a mentor and role model for both the young and the old.

Sharing his childhood experiences with the Junior Graphic, Dr Tetteh said he was grateful to his father for identifying his potential when he was just a little boy.

“My father gave us names associated with the various professions and surprisingly all of us turned out to achieve exactly what he expected us to be. I was named the ‘Ambassador’ and in more ways than one I can confidently say that I’ve lived as an ambassador all my life.

“Since I was a child I always championed the cause of others. Anytime I realised a friend was being given a raw deal (injustice) I never kept quiet and I guess that was why  my dad called me an ‘Ambassador’,” he said.

Being the outspoken student that he was, it was no wonder that when he went to the Odorgonno Secondary School in Accra, he was the President of the Debaters’ Club,  the Secretary to the Students Representative Council (SRC) and  a member of the school’s football team.

Dr Tetteh, who is a native of Dodowa in the Greater Accra District took his ambassadorial duties to the international level when he gained admission to study Economics at the London School of Economics, where he was of immense help to a lot of black students because of his ability to talk to people to get the needed results.

It didn’t stop there. When he got a  scholarship to study for his Masters’ and Doctoral degrees at the Budapest Economics University in Hungary, an Eastern European country, he was elected the President of the Council of the Eastern European Students Association where he championed the interests of the foreign students.

It was during this same period that he met a man of God who prophesied into his life and told him that God was going to use him as an ambassador for His works.

“At the time I knew God but I hadn’t had an encounter with Him and so from that time onwards I had an inner peace which I had not experienced before. But the challenge then was worshipping God in a foreign country,” he said.

“It was a real challenge and my faith in the Lord was tested so many times but in the end I was able to win souls for Christ and I am happy that happened,” he added.

Working for Christ, according to Dr Tetteh, has been a blessing to him because he has met so many people from different continents. He is able to hold crusades at ‘no-go’ areas to change the lives of many for the better because of the grace the Lord has bestowed on him.

He has held crusades in the United Kingdom, United States of America, Israel, Asia, Eastern and Western Europe and many countries in Africa and has also written a lot of academic manuals and Christian Literature.

He advised parents never to see the worst in their children but rather,  always bless their children with kind words and positive thoughts to bring out the best in them.

And to the young , he advised them to always think twice before they took any action because one day they would look back and regret some of the actions they took when they were young.

Dr Tetteh is married to Mrs Barbara Tetteh and together they have a son, David.
