A former Member of Parliament for the Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has called on parents and guardians not to hide behind the current economic challenges to deny their children and wards quality education.
According to Mr Jumah, no matter the hardship parents went through, the well-being of their children should always be their priority.
Speaking at the first Speech and Prize-giving Day of the Kensington Trust Preparatory School at Dompoase-Aprabo in the Ashanti Region, Mr Jumah repeated the important role education played in the development of every nation.
He pointed out that education would continue to be a critical tool for transforming individuals and remained the backbone of economic development and the society.
The Head of Finance and Administration of Kumasi Metro Education, Ms Betty Asare, who read a speech on behalf of the Metro Director, Mrs Augusta Akyea Sarpong, charged the school authorities to prepare students adequately ahead of examinations so that they do not indulge in examination malpractices.
She said the recent BECE leakage which resulted in the cancellation of some papers indicated that the students were not well prepared for the examination.
The Proprietress of the school, Mrs Comfort Arthur Bonful, noted that the poor nature of the road to the school was a major problem for the school and called on the authorities to repair it.
She announced that the school, which started a decade ago with only two pupils, now had 600 students.
