Final-year university students are to report on June 15.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, made these known in his 10th address to the nation on measures to ease safely the restrictions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“JHS 3 classes will comprise a maximum of 30 students; SHS classes a maximum of 25 students; and university lectures will take place with half the class size,” he said.

Furthermore, all final-year students of educational and training institutions which are being managed by ministries other than the

Education Ministry are to return to school on June 15 to complete their exit examinations.

President Akufo-Addo said prior to the opening of schools and universities, the Ministry of Education and the heads of public and private educational institutions would fumigate and disinfect their institutions.

Also, each student, teacher and non-teaching staff will be provided with reusable face masks by the Ministry of Education.

With effect from June 5, an abridged format for religious services can commence.

According to the President, that would comprise 25 per cent attendance with a maximum number of 100 congregants at a time in church or at the mosque, with the mandatory one-metre rule of social distancing among congregants.

In addition to that, wearing of masks for all persons at all times in churches and mosques is mandatory. A register of names and contact details of all worshippers and handwashing facilities and sanitisers must be provided with a maximum duration of one hour for each service.

All borders - by air, land and sea - remain closed.

The suspension of public gatherings - sporting events, nightclubs, cinemas, drinking spots, bars, beaches, festivals, funerals, political rallies and large religious gatherings such as crusades, pilgrimages and conventions - has been extended until July 31.
