Black Queens, Black Maidens need our support

Dear Editor, The painful exit of the female national soccer team, the Black Queens, and the Under-17 female national team, the Black Maidens, from the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA Under-17 World Cup were heartbreaking for majority of Ghanaians.

In the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations which is being hosted in Accra and Cape Coast for instance, the Black Queens were highly tipped to get to the final and possibly lift the trophy.

Unfortunately, that was not the case as they failed to go past the group stage of the competition.

The maidens, despite their victories against Uruguay, Finland and New Zealand in the Under-17 competition, lost 4-3 on penalties to Italy after drawing with them 2-2 in regulation time.

I believe we should encourage our female soccer players because they did their best to make Ghana proud but were not successful.
We salute you, Black Queens and the Black Princesses and wish you better luck next time.
