Abeiku Jackson, new swimming champ

Ghanaian swimming sensation, Abeiku Jackson last Saturday dominated the Gh Dolphins Invitational Age Categorised Swimming Competition after winning three events at the Burma Camp Sports Complex pool in Accra.

Abeiku, who is the captain of the Gh Dolphins and a student of the Soul Clinic International School won the 100 metres freestyle (Boys 15+), 50 metres freestyle (Boys 15+) and 50 metres butterfly event ( Boys 15+).

The 16-year-old  beat Richard Asante Yeboah of Legon/Anopa (31.84 seconds) and Jacob Van Der Westhuizen of Lincoln Community School (44.46 seconds) in the 50 metres butterfly race after finishing in a time of 25.53 seconds. 

Abeiku also defeated Wayne Kriel and John Michael Asiedu to second and third places respectively in the 100 metres freestyle after displaying his swimming skills. He completed the 50 metres boys freestyle contest in a time of 24.31 seconds.

Another big winner on the day was 20-year-old national swimmer, Ophelia Swayne, who swam to victory in the 50 metres freestyle and 50 metres butterfly events.

The top three winners in the various categories were presented with certificates and medals after the event.

Participants of the day were the Lincoln Lions from the Lincoln Community School (LCS), Ombi Swim Club, ANOPAPHINS Swim Team, Legon Sharks and the Ghana White Sharks.
