13-year-old pupil trains to become a mechanic during closure of schools

Thirteen-year-old John Osei-Wusu, a Primary Six pupil of the Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School at Offinso in the Ashanti Region, has taken advantage of the stay at home  to learn a trade.

As a result of the outbreak of the coronavirus disease and the closure of schools, John, who relocated to Sunyani in the Bono Region, is now an apprentice with his uncle, Mr Daniel Anti, who is a mechanic.

For the past one month that Osei-Wusu has stayed in Sunyani, he has been specialising in the repair of shock absorbers  at the Sunyani Magazine.

He is not alone in this trade as some children of his age and even below were seen learning one vocation or another when the Junior Graphic visited the Sunyani Magazine.

John said  even though he wanted to be a soldier in future, he was very happy to be understudying his uncle during this period.
