Ms Ethel Cofie, a technology entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Edel Technology Consulting, has joined a team from Airtel Ghana to mentor pupils from the St. Andrews School at Mataheko in Accra.
The mentoring session is part of Airtel’s initiative dubbed, “Evolve With STEM”, which is aimed at promoting the study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among young people.
Speaking at the function, Ms Cofie said children often avoid the study of STEM because they are made to think that those subjects are difficult and boring.
She, therefore, encouraged pupils to take STEM seriously as these subjects would impact every aspect of their lives.
“STEM will empower you to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which will go a long way to help you nurture your dreams,” she noted.
For her part, the Managing Director of Airtel Ghana, Mrs Lucy Quist, inspired the pupils to believe and hold on to their dreams since the power to realise those dreams lay within them.
“Believe your dreams will be a reality and work hard towards achieving them,” she stated.
During the mentoring session, the children were taught how to build their own websites.
