The heartwarming gesture was the result of months of fundraising by the school’s students, who wanted to show their appreciation for Apraku's dedication and kindness.
"I give thanks to Almighty God for making today for me. This is a great day, and I never believed this would happen in my life," Apraku said, filled with gratitude during the emotional moment.
The surprise was spearheaded by students Logan Georgelas and Bennett Hibshman, who remembered Apraku mentioning that his dream car was a Jeep Wrangler. Inspired by his story, they launched a GoFundMe campaign, with the hope of making his dream a reality.
"We just kind of decided we were going to try to get him his Jeep Wrangler," said Logan. "When we got $5,000 on the first day, we realised this was real."
The fundraising quickly surpassed expectations, raising over $20,000. Local car dealer Andy helped the students find the perfect Jeep, which was presented to Apraku in the school’s parking lot.
Visibly moved, Apraku expressed his deep appreciation for the students' generosity. "This day, September 9, I will never, ever forget," he said, standing next to his new Jeep Wrangler.
The surprise has since captured the attention of the community, highlighting the bond between Apraku and the students of James Madison High School.
