More than 200 people arrested in Berlin in clashes with police during New Year's Eve celebrations

Over to Germany for a moment, where police in the capital say at least 15 officers have been injured in clashes with people during New Year's Eve celebrations.

People were firing fireworks at officers in spots around Berlin, they say, and more than 230 people have been arrested.

German authorities had feared that violent riots could break out on New Year's Eve - as they did last year when fireworks were fired at police. It shocked many and prompted calls for a ban on firecrackers and fireworks.
