
Media plays crucial role in ECOWAS integration agenda - Ambassador
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Representative to Ghana, Ambassador Mohammed Lawan Gana, has underscored the crucial role of the media in helping advance the ECOWAS integration agenda for sustainable peace and development in the Western African region.
He said the media as a conveyor of information played an important role of public engagement and sensitisation which enhance cooperation and fostering a sense of regional identity among ECOWAS member states.
Ambassador Gana was speaking during a courtesy call on him by the Director -General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Professor Amin Alhassan.
The meeting focused on fostering collaboration between GBC and ECOWAS to enhance the organization's visibility as it marks its 50th anniversary and plans for future activities.

Force for good
Prof Alhassan lauded ECOWAS for its tremendous achievements of promoting peace , economic cooperation and sustainable development in West Africa throughout its 50 years of existence, describing the regional body as a force for good.
He said the ECOWAS was key in any scheme of work by member states to achieve economic prosperity and sustained development for their citizens.
He assured the Ambassador of GBC’s commitment in shedding light on the various good works being undertaken by ECOWAS to help boost the regional body’s image.
“As ECOWAS celebrates its golden jubilee, the partnership between GBC and ECOWAS will play a pivotal role in promoting the organization's objectives across Ghana and beyond,” he said.
