The third suspects is said to be on the run. The mother of the victim (name withheld) said the daughter complained of pains in her private parts, and on enquiry it was discovered that some persons had had carnal knowledge of her.

She called on the police and the state government to help in apprehending the fleeing suspect and ensure that he, too, faces the law.

“I want justice for my daughter for what they did to her. The police should ensure these people do not go unpunished,” she pleaded.

Edo State coordinator, Child Protection Network, Jennifer Ero, described child defilement as an act of man inhumanity to man and called on the police and concerned authorities to ensure that the victim gets justice. She said, “Three of them connived and forcefully raped and defiled a child of six years old. Right now they have arrested two of them and they are at Aideyan policemen while the third person absconded. The worst of it all was that woman whose daughter is the victim tis being intimidated by the authorities of the school where the crime took place."

“Because she own a shop there, they are threatening to evict her because she went public with what happened; they want her to keep silent over it.” When contacted the Edo State Police public relations officer, DSP Steven Onwuchi, said his office was yet to be briefed about the incident.
