Why saboteurs of free SHS should be ignored

When the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) was introduced in 2017, they prayed for its failure, but they did not succeed, and when the Double-Track System was introduced in order to admit more students, they wished the system bad.

Now that the Double-Track System has taken off without many hitches, the same doomsayers and saboteurs are moving all out to shred the very system that parents of junior high schools students have come to wholly embrace.

The saboteurs have resorted to the writing of letters to the International Community and World Education Organizations, condemning the Double-Track System, which those same organizations are applauding Ghana for implementing.

Ghana is the radar of an Africa Humanitarian Tour on Education, as the country is the first on the list of countries to be visited because of the successful implementation of the Free SHS, as well as the Double-Track System.

To scuttle the honour that will be coming to Ghana, the saboteurs are targeting the Minister of Education and his deputies because of the good work that they are doing.

The doomsayers are targeting the Minister of Education because he is the first minister to run the Double-Track System smoothly in Africa among countries that decided to run that system.

As a matter of fact, the saboteurs have insiders within some World Education Organizations who have alerted of how the world has acknowledged how remarkable the Free SHS was rolled out and the successful implementation of the Double Track System.

The things that the insiders tell them are making them jittery and they have therefore vowed to continue with their grubby game, although they have failed.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who is presiding over the successful implementation of the programme, has been attacked on various platforms and in various ways but he has never lost focus.

In the past few days, there have been serious discourses on the Free SHS, following comments by the former President John Dramani Mahama, who is seeking a comeback to the Presidency, to the effect that he would review the Free SHS when he ever comes back to power.

His position elicited a strong response from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who says Ghanaians should never give Mahama the second chance because he will collapse the Free SHS.

The saboteurs are now circulating pictures of schools they took during the introduction of the Free SHS and making them look as if they were current happenings in schools under the Double-Track System.

However, the true story is that the system was rolled out effectively throughout the schools that were selected for the programme.

Parents whose wards were hooked up onto the Double-Track System were happy with the manner things were done and gave the Ministry of Education thumbs-up for its successful handling.
