I now go to every meeting with the understanding that someone would be making a secret recording of the proceedings. To be fair, I must confess that I took this position long before voice and video recorders became so small, secret recordings can be made without the knowledge of the person or persons being recorded.
Anyone who has lived amongst an exile community will understand the feeling. In the early 1990s when I lived in London and used to attend meetings of the then fledgling NPP, there was always stories being told about people at those meetings who were allegedly in the pay of the authorities in Ghana and who were making reports about whatever those deemed to be opposed to the regime would say.
