The changing phase of Ho Polytechnic; A cradle for industry and academia

The Ho Polytechnic was among the elite polytechnics established in 1992 under the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) Law 321.

This followed the re-designing of the polytechnic programme in 1986 with government white paper on the report to reform the tertiary education system in 1991 which subsequently was promulgated under PNDC law 321 and repealed by Parliament in 2007 by Act 745, now Polytechnic Law 745.

Background

In some instances, the polytechnics were newly constructed, but in the case of the Ho Polytechnic, it has gone through several phases and whether this is a blessing or not, only time will tell.

I vividly remember that some concerned citizens argued during the time that a new site be located so that the technical institute will be maintained but another school of thought was that the time was too short to start a new project altogether and Ho has since been robbed of a technical institute.
