LaNMA, stop harassing me over already paid property rates

Sometime in July this year, I returned from work, and a letter was handed to me from the La Nkwantanang/Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMA).

It was a demand notice for the payment of property rates.

With typed values on one side,  filled out in ink on the other, on a receipt sheet torn roughly out of a receipt book that, I thought, did not look professional.

It also had “kindly contact Mr Arthur” and two mobile numbers written underneath.

It occurred to me that the Assembly was providing me with an intermediary for the payment of my rate, but I was not comfortable with that, so I did not contact the said Mr Arthur.

I decided to go to the Assembly myself; however, my schedule of leaving the municipality early to go to town where I work and returning late meant taking a day off in September to get to the office to pay GH¢1,000, with a balance of GH¢180.

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, I returned from work to find a noticeably large “Final Warning Notice” to pay an amount of GH¢ 1,320, as the amount I had refused to pay upon a previous warning notice, to be paid before October 15, 2026.

Please, LaNMA, don’t harass me with your inefficiencies.

Do you not coordinate properly among your departments to get to know what is paid and when?

Also, why a bill GH¢1,320 now, when previously it was GH¢1,180? Is anyone trying to fleece me?

Additionally, why deface the tiled outer edge of my wall with glue and stick the demand notice, the heading of which is in red, as if my property is up for auction or sale due to some fault on my part and demeaning me before my neighbours?

The removal of the notice has been a headache for me and is costing me too! I am considering an action against the assembly to ensure that, in doing their work, they show some respect to other people’s properties.

I looked at the length and breadth of my street, Nii Kodia Road, and no other property had that notice, except mine.

Am I an easy target for LaNMA to harass?

Please, LaNMA CEO, Ibrahim Faila Fuseini, do not be comfortable in your office; please be up and about and get to know what your men and women are doing!

Please, properly coordinate your departments and get to know what is being done, so that we will not have a repetition of different property rates given to a particular property owner within three months, and stop harassing me, Ibrahim Faila Fuseini, Mr Arthur!
