Ras Caleb launches Have Faith

Reggae musician, Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, launched his debut album, Have Faith  pending Ghana Is Calling National Peace Tour 2016 at the Coconut Grove Hotel in Accra last Thursday.

The launch, which attracted people from all walks of life, had the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare in attendance.

 

Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare said she has known Ras Caleb as a performing artiste for many years and that he has been a strong advocate for social development and change.

 “I am glad his dream to record this album has come to fruition today. the ministry is always excited when a Ghanaian chalks a significant milestone in the creative arts industry”, she said.

On the upcoming peace tour, Mrs Ofosu-Agyare said, “every nation loves peace and Ghana is no exception, it is heartwarming to see that the creative arts industry is spearheading this noble quest for national peace.”

On his part, Mr Akunu Dake, Chairman of the Ghana Tourism Authority Board asked all who can contribute in cash or in kind to the tour to do so.

The guest speaker, Col (Dr) Gordon Alexis Appiah, a Neuro-surgeon at the 37 Millitary Hospital is also the executive producer of the album and a nephew of Ras Caleb. 

According to him, he noticed Caleb’s dream to record his album took an urgent and passionate character after a trip to the Seychelles last year.

“After some sober reflection, I decided to help him initiate this project. The album was in production for 10 months.

“ I urge all seniors in the music industry to search for, mentor and produce the music of talented artistes who have passion in their belly and dreams in their heart.”

Ras Caleb, who performed three songs from the album said some of his colleague musicians have promised to support him with the tour throughout the 10 regions of the country from June 4 to October 15 this year.

“Musicians believe that peace and reconciliation are the most important things we need at this time in our history. Ghana is an oasis of peace in the sub-region and we urgently need to maintain it that way”, he said.

The Have Faith album was recorded and mixed at Title Track Studio by Zapp Mallet. The songs on the album are Ghana Is Calling, How Long, Life Is A Beach, Jah Sacred Feast and Slimbelly Man.
