The programme, which was organised by Eagle-Net Media as a private initiative, was on the theme: ‘Effective radio programming and transformation’.

It was sponsored by Access Bank and brought together participants from privately owned stations.

The topics treated included effective programming and content production, the challenge of social media and broadcasting business, research dynamics – how it helps programming and content production and the secret of catching the attention of listeners, the market as well as revenue increase.

The Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr Francis Ganyaglo, who was at the closing ceremony, challenged the broadcasters in the region to come out with interesting programmes geared towards the mental and physical development of the people in the region rather than discussing personalities and issues that were offensive and could easily land them at the law court since people were becoming sensitive to their personalities and image.

He urged them to do well in cross-checking facts before going on air.

The Executive Director of Eagle-Net Media, Mr Charles Agbelie, a journalist, said the programme was designed to improve the skills of the practitioners (professionals and non-professionals) to check unacceptable conducts in the radio industry. He said his organisation was networking with some international training institutes to organise short courses for the local broadcast journalists from next year.

The participants were happy about the training and urged the organisers to come out with such initiatives quarterly so that they could benefit more.
