In the exhibition, Fatric, who holds a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, presents works created with found objects, cloth ends, worn-out garments and plastics- which have been subject to transformation due to industrialisation.
In an attempt to reclaim their worth, Fatric re-transforms these products into her canvas works and into sculptural pieces which she sometimes dons in her artistic performances.
In re-imagining these objects, she challenges the viewer to find creative ways to address the impact of human destruction and waste and make decisions that positively impact our society. The exhibition will comprise installations and paintings.
Bewong’s works, largely fabric installations, performances and paintings, focus on consumerism behaviour and its impact or effect on ecology and the environment. Her sometimes shocking performances are meant to jostle the public into reconsidering the consequences of human action on the environment.
Apart from Ghana, she has exhibited in the United States, Germany and Nigeria.
