Vintage vehicles will roar back into life for the first edition of the Accra Vintage Festival slated for Thursday, July 14 at the El-Wak Stadium.
The Accra Vintage Festival which aims to relive fond memories of Ghanaian society by showcasing artifacts and products from the past is organised by Ark Media Marketing Consult with support from the Ministry of Tourism and Ghana Museums & Monuments Board.
According to a press statement issued by Ark Media, there will be an exhibition of very old cars including those driven by former presidents and national leaders. Participants will also be given the opportunity to take pictures with their favourite vintage cars with the best photo receiving award.
The festival aims to provide the platform for Ghanaians who completed secondary school at least 25 years ago to interact and bring back memories of the 1990's with cuisine of those times as well as antique clothing.
The climax of the festival will be preceded by a lecture on Ghana's Culture and Moral values slated for the same day at the British Council at 5pm. Kwaw Ansah’s series, Good Old Days, will be aired throughout the month of July on E-TV with the aim of promoting the Ghanaian culture.
There will also be a pop chain band competition among alumni of 10 schools including Achimota School, Prempeh College, St. Augustines College, Mawuli Senior High School, and Wesley Grammar Senior High School.
Other activities which will take place at the festival grounds include a cooking competition, a fashion show and an awards ceremony to recognise and celebrate products that over the years have served the interest of Ghanaian students.
